Following the re-release of Galaxie 500’s three classic albums on Domino and 20-20-20, Dean Wareham will perform a series of shows this fall, playing a set of Galaxie 500 songs, backed by the Dean & Britta band (featuring his wife Britta Phillips (ex-Luna), drummer Anthony LaMarca and guitarist Matt Sumrow).

The trio of Dean Wareham, Damon Krukowski and Naomi Yang met in high school in New York City in the early 1980’s. They formed Galaxie 500 in Cambridge, MA in 1987 and recorded three studio albums (Today, On Fire and This Is Our Music). They met with much acclaim in their short time together but disbanded in 1991. Wareham went on to form Luna.

“Galaxie 500 were one of the most influential bands to emerge from the late-80’s independent rock scene.” Karen Schoemer, The New York Times

“Galaxie 500 became bona fide treasures of indie rock.” – Mojo

“Galaxie 500 made some of the starkets, most beautiful American underground music of the past decade.” – Melody Maker
