Dastardly is a hard working band based out of Chicago, IL that’s been together since January 2010. They play their asses off around town and throughout the midwest, and tour nationally to the west and east coast whenever they can (so far they’ve done four of those). They’ve played in like 25 states.
They’ve got an EP under their belt called “May You Never…” which they released December 2010. You can buy that on iTunes. They’ve got another release on the way early next year.
They’ve done some cool stuff. They’ve played SXSW. They were in a video for Lipton Iced Tea. They played in a farm in Sac City, Iowa and ate a 275 lb. pig.
Brighton MA is a product of a wide range of modern music. Their sound is
lyrically driven with no small debt to indie, folk, noise pop, and the
classics.
Members Matt Kerstein and Sam Koentopp founded BMA with Jim Tuerk
immediately after leaving Scotland Yard Gospel Choir. The addition of
guitarist Joe Darnaby and bassist Jon Ozaksut have helped drive the band
towards an urgent sound filled with layered intricate guitars, a rattling
heaviness and driving simplicity.
Their songs have been licensed by TV shows such as "Gossip Girl" and
"Community", and the band has found themselves in front of the camera
starring in "Rock the Route", a web- and television-based mini series
produced by Red Bull. Most recently, their signature tune "Good Kind of
Crazy" has been licensed by Jack Daniels for their 2011 Holiday
advertisement, giving the band more prolonged exposure than they've enjoyed
to date.
In early 2012, they will release the 7-song "Billboard Sun" EP with
production assisted by Sea &Cake guitarist Archer Prewitt. Later in the
year, the band will be ready to release their long-awaited sophomore
full-length album, produced by Brian Deck at Engine Studios.
Based in Chicago the band is named for the Boston neighborhood where singer
Matt Kerstein was born.
